Senior Research Scientist

Polymerix Corporation, March 2002 to March 2005

Hired and supervised four new analysts in HPLC, GPC and LC-MS techniques to assist in the development of bioanalytical assays for the controlled or sustained release of anti-proliferative pharmaceuticals (eg. Paclitaxel, rapamycin, methotrexate, mycophenolic acid, estrogen) as admixtures in combination with the polyNSAIDs for use on coronary arterial stents and vascular grafts. Provided full analytical support in the synthetic development of polymeric bio-erodable materials by performing all physical integrity testing, drug load testing, and applied stability testing. Contributed to drug-delivery development by suggesting modifications that led to a patent for use on coronary arterial stents and vascular grafts. Developed and trained staff on LC-MS/MS for in-vivo/in-vitro PK studies.

Senior Research Chemist

Merck Research Labs, January 2000 to March 2002

Developed and completed pre-clinical analyses required to update/amend IND for two antineoplastic drugs, a doxorubicin-peptide conjugate and an indolocarbazole-based topoisomerase inhibitor (PBECL4-special compound handling).Developed HPLC, GC direct and headspace methods for impurity profile and assay of key intermediates and final products for in-process synthetic development and optimization. Supported process chemistry with suggested methods for reaction monitoring regarding purity/yield. Applied near-infrared and mid-infrared spectroscopy to reaction monitoring, moisture determination and reaction kinetics. Trained and supervised a summer intern to original research project leading to a publication.

Senior Research Chemist

Merial Ltd.

Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism Department, November 1997 to January 2000

Investigated the metabolic and pharmacokinetic profile for potential drug candidates via in-vivo plasma analyses up to eight metabolites simultaneously using LC-MS-MS; GC-ECD and GC-MSD techniques to assess the efficacy of a lead cyclo-oxygenase inhibitor (Cox II) and fipronil at the low parts per billion level using both reverse phase and normal phase solid phase extraction techniques SPE-C8, C18, NH2, SiOH, PRS, DIOL. Developed 96-well SPE procedures for the high-throughput analysis. Trained and supervised one entry-level chemist.
